A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE LETTER OF AGREEMENT AND
CONTRACT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION ("FDOT"), FOR THE FLORIDA'S BICYCLE
PEDESTRIAN FOCUSED INITIATIVE, WHICH IS ATTACHED
HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; ACCEPTING A TWENTY-FOUR
THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-EIGHT THOUSAND
DOLLAR ($24,148.00) GRANT AWARD; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE LETTER OF AGREEMENT
AND CONTRACT, AND ANY OTHER ADDENDA FOR
ADDITIONAL YEARS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") has awarded the
City of Miami Gardens the Florida's Bicycle Pedestrian Focused Initiative: High Visibility
Enforcement Grant, to educate the public on pedestrian and bicycle safety measures.
and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens will receive $24,148.00 to develop and
implement effective community level high visibility education and enforcement details in
areas with the highest representation of traffic crashes resulting in serious and fatal
injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists, and
WHEREAS, Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached
resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute the Letter of Agreement and
Contract, and any renewals or addenda as it relates to this grant,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute the Letter of Agreement and Contract
with the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT"), for the Florida's Bicycle
Pedestrian Focused Initiative, which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A", and accepts a
Twenty-Four Thousand One Hundred and Forty-Eight Thousand Dollar ($24,148.00)
Grant Award. The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens further authorizes the City
Manager to execute the Letter of Agreement and Contract, and any other addenda or
renewals for additional years.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
