A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING SEPTEMBER 15,
2021 TO OCTOBER 15, 2021 AS HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
IN THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage Month is the month when community leaders
recognize the contributions made by Hispanic and Latin Americans within the United
States by celebrating their rich heritage and culture, and
WHEREAS, according to the 2020 Census, approximately 58.9 Million
Hispanic/Latino people live within the United States, which accounts for 18.1% of the
United States population, and
WHEREAS, Hispanics have had a positive influence in our country through their
strong commitment to family, faith, hard work, and service, and
WHEREAS, Hispanics have had a positive influence in our country through their

WHEREAS, the independence of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras,
and Nicaragua occur and is celebrated every year on September 15, while the
independence days of Mexico, Chile, and Belize take place on October 12th, which is
also called 'Dia de la Raza', and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Linda Julien recognizes the invaluable contributions
made to this community by Hispanics and is recommending the City recognize September
15, 2021 to October 15, 2021 as Hispanic Heritage Month in the City of Miami Gardens,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: EXPRESSION OF RECOGNITION: The City Council of the City of
Miami Gardens hereby recognize September 15, 2021 to October 15, 2021 as Hispanic
Heritage Month in the City of Miami Gardens.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
