A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THAT CERTAIN
GRANT AWARD FROM THE 2023 GROWING ROOTS FOR
ENVIRONMENTALLY EQUITABLE NEIGHBORHOODS
(GREEN) MIAMI-DADE COUNTY MATCHING GRANT
PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE
ANY AND ALL STEPS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT GRANT
FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF THIRTY THOUSAND AND SEVEN
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($30,700.00); A COPY OF WHICH IS
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT “A”; AUTHORIZING
MATCHING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTEEN THOUSAND
THREE HUNDRED-FIFTY DOLLARS ($15,350.00); PROVIDING
INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens in the past has lost tree canopy throughout,
which has created a negative ecological and aesthetic impact in the City, and
WHEREAS, the City has proposed a tree project to Miami-Dade County through
the Street Tree Matching Grant Program which will provide canopy natives and Florida
friendly trees for the City, and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County has awarded the City of Miami Gardens a tree
matching grant in the amount Thirty Thousand and Seven Hundred Dollars ($30,700.00)
for the tree planting project in the City, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms hereto attached as Exhibit “A,” this is a grant to
match funds for trees and related materials for a total of $30,700.00 whereby Miami-Dade
County will reimburse the City of Miami Gardens $15,350.00, and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager
and City Clerk to execute and attest respectively the Street Tree Matching Grant Program
Tree Planting Agreement in acceptance of the grant award,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City to accept that certain grant from the 2023 Growing Roots for
Environmentally Equitable Neighborhoods (Green) Miami-Dade County Matching Grant
Program and authorizes the City Manager to take any and all steps necessary to accept
grant funds in the amount of Thirty Thousand and Seven Hundred Dollars ($30,700.00).
Section 3: INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK: The City Clerk is hereby
authorized to obtain two (2) fully executed copies of the subject Agreement with one to
be maintained by the City, and one to be delivered to Miami Dade County.
Section 4: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
