A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING STATE HOUSING
INITIATIVE PARTNERSHIP (SHIP) PROGRAM FUNDS;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK
TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST RESPECTIVELY, SUBRECIPIENT
AGREEMENTS FOR THIS PURPOSE IN SUBSTANTIAL FORM
AS THAT AGREEMENT, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A";
PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded State Housing Initiative Partnership
(SHIP) Program funds pursuant to 420.907 et seq., Florida Statutes, as amended,
which provides for the implementation of project designed to address the affordable
housing needs for extremely low- and very low-income households, and
WHEREAS, the City's 2019 - 2022 Local Housing Assistance Plan(LHAP),
approved by the City Council (Resolution No. 2019-138-3267) and the Florida Housing
Finance Corporation, created a Rental Assistance Program to provide financial
assistance for extremely low- and very low-income households obtain or remain in
quality, safe, decent and affordable rental housing specially to help prevent
homelessness, and
WHEREAS, it is the interest of the City to continue the agreement with Sub
recipients granting SHIP Program funds to the Sub recipient to assist the City in
addressing homelessness and providing supportive housing opportunities for homeless
persons as more fully described herein are:
• Volunteers of America of Florida, Inc. in the amount of $45,000.00
• Citrus Healthcare Network, Inc. in the amount of $45,000.00,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) Program Funds as follows:
A. Volunteers of America of Florida, Inc. in the amount of $45,000.00
B. Citrus Healthcare Network, Inc. in the amount of $45,000.00
The City Council further authorizes the City Manager and the City Clerk to
execute and attest respectively, Sub recipient Agreements for this purpose, attached
hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 3: INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK: The City Clerk is hereby
authorized to obtain two (2) fully executed copies of the subject Agreement with one to
be maintained by the City, and one to be delivered to each organization.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
