City Council Minutes
July 13, 2022
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
The City Council for the City of Miami Gardens, Florida, met in regular session,
Jul 13 2022, beginning at 05:30:00 PM, in the Council Chambers, 18605 NW
27th Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida.
The following members of the City Council were present: Mayor Rodney Harris,
Vice Mayor Reggie Leon, Councilwoman Shannon Campbell, Councilwoman
Shannan Ighodaro, Councilman Robert Stephens, and Councilwoman Katrina
Wilson.
Also in attendance were: City Manager Cameron Benson, City Attorney Sonja
Dickens, and City Clerk Mario Bataille.
A motion made by Councilman Stephens, seconded by Councilwoman
Wilson, to approve the absence of Councilwoman Julien approve by a
unanimous voice vote.

7. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Rea Hughes, 335 NW 180th Street, Miami Gardens, FL, 33056, appeared before
the City Council and reported on the Miami Dade County Branch of the NAACP
recently held a candidate town hall for those individuals running in the upcoming
City of Miami Gardens General Election. Referencing the recently held Formula
1 event, Ms. Hughes inquired whether the City will provide a debriefing and
citizen participation to discuss how the funding from Formula 1 would be
distributed throughout the City of Miami Gardens.
Beverly Bush, 3125 NW 205th Street, Miami Gardens, FL, appeared before the
City Council shared concerns regarding code enforcement and safety issues in
her neighborhood.

Sharon T. Mathis, 17211 NW 10th Court, Miami Gardens, FL 33169, appeared
before the City Council and recommended the City monitor the Senior Groups
at the Senior Center to insure the individuals who participate in these groups are
verified as Miami Gardens Residents. Additionally, Ms. Mathis shared concerns
regarding election candidates soliciting votes at the Senior Center.
Jordan Owens, 151 NE 209th Terrace, Miami, FL, appeared before the City
Council and provided general comments on the technology service he provides
to improve public participation and communication.
John Zeigler, 18501 NW 22nd Court, Miami Gardens, FL 33169, appeared
before the City Council and provided a report on the recent activity of the
Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee.
