1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
The City Council for the City of Miami Gardens, Florida, met in regular session,
Sep 28 2022, beginning at 5:52 PM, in the Council Chambers, 18605 NW 27th
Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida.
The following members of the City Council were present: Mayor Rodney Harris,
Vice Mayor Reggie Leon, Councilwoman Shannon Campbell, Councilwoman
Shannan Ighodaro, Councilwoman Linda Julien, Councilman Robert Stephens,
and Councilwoman Katrina Wilson.
Also in attendance were: City Manager Cameron Benson, City Attorney Sonja
Dickens, and City Clerk Mario Bataille.

Councilwoman Campbell withdrew Special Presentation Item 6.1.
Councilwoman Julien withdrew item 8.1 from the Agenda.
There being no further discussion, the Agenda was approved as amended
without objection.

CAMPBELL
7. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Mavis Harper, 21140 NW 31st Avenue appeared before the City Council and
provided an overview on the community activities of the non-profit organization
Old School Classic Car Club.
Gale Cunningham, 19001 NW 14th Avenue Road, Miami Gardens, FL, appeared
before the City Council and indicated she will provide her comments via written
communication to the City Clerk.
Rea Hughes, 3335 NW 188th Street, Miami Gardens, FL, appeared before the
City Council and shared concerns regarding several unauthorized event that
took place at Myrtle Grove Park on August 13, 2022 along with the usage of the
City's logo used on the flyer for said events. She continued to share concern
that there was no citations issued or written report on file as it relates to the
events in question. She questioned if this incident was being swept under the
rug.

carried by a 7 to 0 roll call vote of the City Council.

Councilwoman Wilson requested a report from the Miami Gardens Police
Department to provide her with a report on what recently transpired at Myrtle
Groove Park as she understood the people at the park committed no crime or
did anything that was illegal.

Vice Mayor Leon recognized the Police Department, Public Works, and Public
Affairs Department for their response in preparation of the Hurricane.
Mayor Harris recognized the work of City staff in preparation of the Hurricane.
