THE CITY OF MIRAMAR THROUGH THE FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT “A;” PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK; PROVIDING FOR
THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Staff Summary: Background: The City of Miami Gardens has been identified by the Federal Department of Homeland Security
as eligible to receive funding from the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program as a member of the Fort Lauderdale ITEM K-3) CONSENT AGENDA RESOLUTION Amendment to the 2007
UASI Agreement
1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 UASI. The City was awarded $412,745 under the 2007 UASI Grant for the purchase of Hazmat Equipment for the Police
Department, Emergency Generators for vital City facilities, and Communications Equipment for the Mobile Command Center. The City of Miramar acts as the Sponsoring Agency for the Fort
Lauderdale UASI , and as such, the City of Miami Gardens is a sub‐granting agency of the City of Miramar in the Fort Lauderdale UASI. The Sponsoring Agency applied to the State of Florida
for an additional extension of the term of the State Agreement in order to provide additional time for the completion of procurement and the expenditure of the grant funding available
under the FY 2007 UASI Grant Program. The State of Florida has agreed, subject to execution of a Third Modification to the State Agreement, to extend the Agreement through June 30, 2011.
As the sub‐granting agency of the City of Miramar, the City must also approve and execute the attached memorandum of agreement for participating Fort Lauderdale UASI agencies to extend
the term of the 2007 UASI MOA through June 30, 2011. Proposed Action: It is recommended that City Council adopt the attached Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Miramar granting
an extension of time for the expenditure of 2007 UASI grant funds. Attachment: Attachment A – 2007 UASI MOA Third Modification
