Department Short Title: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AWARDING BIDS TO QUALITY WIRING, INC., AS PRIMARY BIDDER, STRUCTURED CABLING SOLUTIONS,
AS SECONDARY BIDDER, AND BCI COMMUNICATIONS, AS TERTIARY BIDDER, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ANNUAL BUDGETED AMOUNT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS ON AN AS NEEDED
BASIS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE Staff Summary: In an effort to acquire telecommunication wiring and cabling, parts and services, the
City solicited bids to obtain the services of qualified contractors. The objective is to pre‐qualify three (3) bidders, deemed the “primary,” “secondary” and “tertiary” bidders, to order
upon when specific products are required. Multiple bidders are recommendaed to be awarded to assure availability and expeditious delivery. For those projects requiring labor, quotes
may be obtained from all three (3) pre-qualified bidders, to assure maximum competition and ultimately the best price per project. This contract is for a one‐year term with an option
to renew for an additional three years, on a year to year basis. It is estimated that the City will spend approximately $115,000 annually for these services. ITEM J-9) CONSENT AGENDA
RESOLUTION Awarding a bid for Cable Wiring Services
1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 City staff prepared specifications and advertised on June 3, 2009. A broadcast notice was sent to 600 vendors. Forty
eight (48) vendors requested bid packages. The bids were opened on July 2, 2009. Twelve (12) bids were received and publicly read. A copy of the proposal document and submittals are
available at the assistant to the Mayor and Council’s office for review. Proposed Action: The City Council approve an award to Quality Wiring Inc., Structured Cabling Solutions and BCI
Communications and to authorize the City Manager to issue purchase orders on an as needed basis, not to exceed the annual budgeted amount. Attachment: Attachment A –Bid Tabulation
