THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH CPZ ARCHITECTS, INC. FOR ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE MIAMI GARDENS COMMUNITY CENTER AMPHITHEATRE PROJECT,
IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED SEVEN THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($107,500.00); PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Staff Summary: On July 15,
2009 Miami‐Dade County announced the availability of approximately $6 million in Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Programs grant funds for land acquisition and capital improvements of public
parks. Staff submitted an application in support of Phase II – Amphitheatre at the Miami Gardens Community Center. During the August 18, 2009 meeting the Safe Neighborhood Parks Oversight
Committee selected the proposed Phase II ‐Amphitheatre project located at the Miami Gardens Community Center for award recommendation to the Miami‐Dade Board of County Commission. ITEM
J-11) CONSENT AGENDA RESOLUTION Agreement w/CPZ Architects, Inc.
1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 The proposed budget for the project is $1,000,000 of which the County and the City would each provide equal amounts.
Current Situation: On February 25, 2009, the City Council in accordance with Resolution No. 2009‐14‐959 authorized the City Manager to approve a Nonexclusive Continuing Service Agreement
with CPZ Architects, Inc. located in Plantation, Florida. Staff feels that CPZ is the logical Architectural firm for the Phase II ‐Amphitheatre project since they are currently providing
construction administration services for the Phase I Miami Gardens Community Center project. Staff has met with CPZ Architects to coordinate the scope, schedule and appropriate fee for
the proposed amphitheatre. The proposed fee for the basic design services as outlined in the continuing services agreement for CPZ Architects is $90,000. Additional Services totaling
$17,500 are also proposed for the color rendering that was prepared for the Safe Neighborhood Neighborhood Parks Grant application, Special Inspection Services required by the Florida
Building Code, and the separate Sound Consultant. The total fee for basic services and additional services will be $107,500. Proposed Action: It is recommended that City Council approve
the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with CPZ Architects, Inc. for Architectural and Engineering services for the Miami Gardens Community
Center Phase II ‐Amphitheatre Project in the amount of $107,500. Attachment: Attachment A – CPZ November 11, 2009 Proposal
