Staff Summary: As discussed during the FY 09‐10 budget workshops the City will need to invest in the purchase of additional and replacement vehicles for various city departments Vehicles that were approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2010 budget are as follows: Police Department • Fourteen (14) 2010 Police Crown Victoria • Six (6) 2010 Ford Explorers • Two (2) 2010 undercover Police Package Chevrolet Impala’s, • One (1) 2010 Ford E250 Cargo Van • One (1) 2010 Ford Escape • One (1)2010 Ford Fusion ITEM J-15) CONSENT AGENDA RESOLUTION P.O. to Duval Ford 1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 • One (1) 2010 Ford Mustang Bldg. Code Compliance • Five (5) 2010 Ford F‐150 Public Works • One (1) 2010 Ford F‐150 Of the thirty two (32) budgeted vehicles listed above, only the purchase of fifteen (15) vehicles are being presented to Council for approvalunder this agenda item. Fifteen (15) other vehicles are being presented to Council under a separate agenda item (proposed Don Reid Ford item) and the remaining two (2) vehicles were purchased under the City Manager’s authority. Bid #09‐10‐12 was advertised on November 2, 2009. A broadcast notice was sent to 121 vendors. Twenty one (21) vendors requested bid packages. The bids were opened on November 19, 2009. Eight (8) bids were received and publicly read. A copy of the proposal document and submittals are available at the assistant to the Mayor and Council’s office for review. Staff is recommending award for the purchase of fifteen (15) vehicles in the amount of $309,533.00 to Duval Ford, Jacksonville, Florida. The afore‐mentioned price includes extended warranties for the all of the vehicles except the administrative and unmarked Ford Explorers and the E250 Cargo Van. Extended warranties on these five vehicles are not recommended because of their limited use as adminstrative vehicles and/or traffic homicide service vehicle. Proposed Action: That the City Council authorize the City Manager to issue a purchase order to Duval Ford, in the amount of $309,533.00 for Three (3) 2010 Unmarked Ford Explorers, One (1) 2010 Ford Explorer Administrative, Six (6) 2010 Ford F150, Two (2) 2010 Marked Ford Explorer, One (1) 2010 Ford E250, One (1) 2010 Ford Escape, One (1) 2010 Ford Mustang.
