BUDGET AMOUNT, PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE Staff Summary: Ready Mixed Concrete is mixed at a plant or on trucks in route to a job site,
delivered ready for placement in various densities and mixtures. The City of Miami Gardens Public Works Department requires Ready Mixed Concrete for the repair and replacement of city
sidewalks and curbs. City of Miami Gardens, acting as lead for the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Co-operative Group, prepared specifications and advertised on July 7, 2011
requesting sealed bids. A broadcast notice was sent to 96 vendors. Four (4) vendors requested bid packages. The bids were opened on July 28, 2011. One bid was received and publicly read.

1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 The bid was evaluated for compliance with the specifications and the vendor’s ability to perform the work. Staff
checked references for past performances, finances, and insurances. All of the references were favorable; the finances and insurance are sufficient. The vendor certifies that they will
not require additional staff to perform contract services, and therefore would not attempt to hire unemployed City of Miami Gardens residents. This requirement may be readdressed with
the vendor should the need for ready mixed concrete services increase throughout the contract term. The contract is for a two (2) year term. It is estimated that the City will spend
$60,000.00 annually. As the concrete market is volatile, and pricing fluxuates often, the objective is to pre-qualifiy bidders for future competition to furnish and deliver ready mixed
concrete throughout various locations in the South Florida Area, including Miami Gardens. The delivery areas are priced by Zones 1 through 7, ranging from North as far as the Palm Beach
County line, to South Prospect Drive in Coconut Grove. The recommended bidders will be pre-qualified to provide prices per zone that will be in effect for a minimum three months or for
as long as the vendor can maintain his pricing. The City reserves the right to add or delete vendors throughout the contract term in its best interests. If the City elects to add bidders,
they must meet the same minimum qualifications established for the original competition. The Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Co-operative was formed in an effort to provide
cost savings and cost avoidances to all entities by utilizing the buying power of combined requirements for common, basic items. The Co-operative participants for this solicitation include;
City of Tamarac, Town of Davie, City of Margate, City of Hollywood, City of Deerfield Beach, City of Coconut Creek, City of Lauderhill, and the City of North Miami Beach. Proposed Action:
That the City Council authorize the City Manager to issue purchase orders to A-1 Construction and Renovation LLC., for these services in an amount not to exceed the annual budget amount.
