A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
MAYOR RODNEY HARRIS’ AND COUNCILMAN STEPHENS’
FORMULA 1 COMMUNITY BENEFIT ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($7,500) EACH IN SUPPORT OF THEIR PRE-
FORMULA 1: YOUNG PROFESSIONALS KICK-OFF EVENT;
PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, as the highest class of international racing for single-seater formula
racing cars, Formula One, commonly known as Formula 1 or F1, is the pinnacle of
motorsport and the world’s most prestigious motor racing competition, and
WHEREAS, the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, will take place over 57 laps of the Miami
International Autodromo in Miami Gardens, Florida from May 3rd- May 5th, and
WHEREAS, Formula 1 is watched by millions of fans around the world and
includes hundreds of thousands of fans who flock through the gates at each Grand Prix
to catch the action in-person, and
WHEREAS, on Monday, April 15th, 2024, a Sunshine Meeting between Mayor
Rodney Harris and Councilman Robert Stephens, III was held and publicly noticed where
they agreed to co-sponsor and present the Miami Gardens Young Professionals Paint &
Vibe as an opening event to the Miami Grand Prix Formula 1 Weekend with the purpose
of cultivating relationships with experienced professionals and to engage the community,
and
WHEREAS, Mayor Harris and Councilman Stephens are requesting funds from
their Formula 1 Community Benefit account in the amount not to exceed seven thousand
fiver hundred dollars ($7,500) each for a total amount of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000
total) to support the Pre-Formula 1: Young Professionals Kick-Off event.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation in the amount not to exceed Seven Thousand Five
Hundred Dollars ($7,500) each from Mayor Harris’ and Councilman Stephens’ Formula 1

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON APRIL 24, 2024.
