HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-060-2133_-_Support_for_Arbor_Day_Senior_Home_Beautification_project_-_Adopted.docxRESOLUTION NO. 2024-060-2133 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING AN ALLOCATION OF TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000) FROM THE SEAT TWO, SEAT FOUR, AND AT-LARGE SEAT SIX FORMULA ONE COMMUNITY BENEFIT ACCOUNT FOR A TOTAL ALLOCATION OF SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS ($6,000) IN SUPPORT OF THE MIAMI GARDENS NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH, INCORPORATED THIRD ANNUAL ARBOR DAY SENIOR HOME BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT, TO BE HELD ON FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 2024; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, a publicly noticed Sunshine Meeting was convened by the Office of the Mayor to discuss City Council support for the Third Annual Arbor Day Senior Home Beautification Project organized by the Miami Gardens Neighborhood Watch, Incorporated, and WHEREAS, during said meeting it was determined that Vice Mayor Katrina Wilson, Councilman Reggie Leon, and Councilman Robert Stephens III would jointly co-sponsor a Resolution supporting the Third Annual Arbor Day Senior Home Beautification project, and WHEREAS, each Council Member committed to allocating two thousand dollars ($2,000) from their respective Formula One Community Benefit Accounts, resulting in a combined allocation of six thousand dollars ($6,000), and WHEREAS, this donation will be in support of the Third Annual Arbor Day Senior Home Beautification project, as this year, six senior homeowners have been identified by Miami Gardens' residents and stakeholders to receive support, and WHEREAS, each home is in need of repairs in which the homeowner is unable to financially support due to limited or fix income, and WHEREAS, the intent of this resolution is to help increase their quality of life and restore a level of comfort for our most valued seniors in need, as all the identified senior homeowners currently reside in their homes and have been residents of the area prior to it becoming a city, and WHEREAS, the day of service this year is scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2024, from 9am to 3pm, with an anticipation of up to twenty community-based organizations that will volunteer and support this project, our seniors in Miami Gardens deserve to have a decent quality of life, especially those in need of help. DocuSign Envelope ID: 7C5135D1-11D8-4F22-944E-BB57AC59FAA7 Page 2 of 3 Resolution No. 2024-060-2133 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorize the allocation of two thousand dollars ($2,000) from the Residential Area Seat 2, Seat 4, and At-Large Seat 6 Formula One Community Benefit Account for a total allocation of six thousand dollars ($6,000) in support of the Miami Gardens Neighborhood Watch, Incorporated Third Annual Arbor Day Senior Beautification Project. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
