A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, WAIVING RENTAL FEES AND
SERVICE CHARGES FOR THE USE OF THE SENIOR FAMILY
CENTER AND PAYING ASSOCIATED STAFFING COSTS FROM
THE SEAT 6 PUBLIC AFFARIS SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN
SUPPORT OF NORTH DADE MIDDLE SCHOOL’S 8TH GRADE
PROM; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, North Dade Middle School was established in 1957 as one of the first
all-Black high schools in Miami-Dade County, became a junior high school in 1968,
reconfigured in 1976 to a middle school, and
WHEREAS, in the late 1990s, a small International Affairs Magnet Program for
Spanish/French language acquisition diversified the curriculum of North Dade Middle
School, and
WHEREAS, the mission of North Dade Middle School’s International
Baccalaureate Middle Years Program is to build a team of champions by performing all
tasks related to increasing students’ academic and social competence; extending towards
the belief that students will be successful and productive components of our community
at large, and
WHEREAS, North Dade Middle School will have its 8th grade prom at the Senior
Family Center on Saturday, May 25th, 2024, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens is requesting total cost of rental and
staffing fees requesting to be provided in-kind and the allocation of funds from his Special
Events account in the amount of $396.00 to support North Dade Middle School’s 8th
grade Prom.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the total cost of rental and staffing fees requesting to be provided in-
kind and an allocation in the amount not to exceed Three Hundred Ninety-Six Dollars
($396.00) from the Seat 6 Special Events/Public Affairs Account to support North Dade
Middle School’s 8th grade Prom.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
