A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING AN ALLOCATION
OF FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ($400) FROM MAYOR
RODNEY HARRIS' PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL EVENTS
ACCOUNT IN SUPPORT OF THE MIAMI DADE COUNTY
FOSTER & ADOPTIVE PARENT ASSOCIATION. PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting an allocation of Five Hundred
dollars ($500.00) from his public affairs Special events account (001-12-02-512-492-00)
to donate to the Miami Dade County Foster & Adoptive Parent Association, and
WHEREAS, this local nonprofit organization provides programs and services to
1,200 youth in foster care which includes kinship, non-relative care, independent living
and the recently adopted, and
WHEREAS, foster teens from the City of Miami Gardens will be attending an
annual conference hosted by the Florida State Foster & Adoptive Parent Association from
June 14 - 16, 2024, and
WHEREAS, at the conference, foster teens from Miami Gardens will learn new life
skills, interact with other foster youth and learn from their experiences while gaining
insight to strategies to handling life challenges as teens in the child welfare system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby support the request for allocation of $500.00 dollars from Mayor Rodney Harris’
public affairs Special events account (001-12-02-512-492-00) to donate in support of the
Miami Dade County Foster & Adoptive Parent Association.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 12, 2024.
