A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING SPONSORSHIP
FOR THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP EXPERIENCE SUMMIT IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($3,000) FROM COUNCILWOMAN SHANNON CAMPBELL’S
PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, There is a great need for diverse groups to own their businesses to
ensure job security. Minority business expertise ranges from manufacturing to high-tech,
and we are well represented in the global market. More and more businesses are run by
diverse professionals who have left high-ranking jobs in the corporate arena to pursue
entrepreneurial endeavors aimed at their own communities, and
WHEREAS, In an effort to increase awareness and educate our residents on the
benefits of entrepreneurship, councilwoman Shannon Campbell will be hosting the
Entrepreneurship Experience Summit 2024 at Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex
on September 14,2024, and
WHEREAS, Young adults today are looking for jobs, respect and supervision.
They have to learn that we have a legacy of success that runs contrary to the media
images of slavery, welfare, crime and drugs. This summit will offer opportunities for these
individual to explore how to start a business, how to identify what could be a profitable
business, networking and mentorship with those who have successful businesses. The
participants will get a chance to experience hands-on demonstrations. Ultimately, this
summit will be an interactive experience to encourage our residents on a positive path
when a higher education institution may not fit their needs, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Shannon Campbell is requesting funding from Seat 1
Special Events Account in the amount of three thousand dollars ($3,000) to support the
Entrepreneurship Experience Summit, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes an allocation in the amount not to exceed three thousand dollars
($3,000) from Seat 1 Public Affairs Special Events Account (001-12-02-512-492-01) to
support the entrepreneurship Experience Summit.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 24, 2024.
