WILSON BOULEVARD; REQUESTING SUPPORT FROM MIAMI- DADE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS THROUGH DISTRICT 1 OFFICE FOR THIS PURPOSE; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Councilman Leon is recommending that the City Council urge the Florida House of Representatives and the Senate to co-designate NW 47th Avenue, from NW 199th Street to NW 207th Drive, as Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson Boulevard in recognition of her extensive service and contributions to the community as a dedicated public servant, and WHEREAS, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson has served the community with distinction over the years, advocating tirelessly for the betterment of her constituents and ensuring that the voices of the underserved are heard, and WHEREAS, in 2011, Congresswoman Wilson was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where she continues to serve as a strong advocate for her community, and WHEREAS, designating NW 47th Avenue, from NW 199th Street to NW 207th Drive as Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson Boulevard is a fitting tribute to her lifelong dedication to public service and community advocacy, and WHEREAS. this co-designation will serve as a constant reminder of her legacy and inspire future generations to contribute positively to society, and WHEREAS, this Resolution urges members of the Florida House of Representative and the Senate representing the Miami Gardens to submit the appropriate bills for this purpose as this portion of NW 47th Avenue is considered a State Road, and WHEREAS, this Resolution requests the support of this co-designation from Miami-Dade County Commissioners through the office of Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Docusign Envelope ID: 2A5FEFC6-BDD5-49D8-8FB3-596E18B7BEE0 Page 2 of 2 Resolution No. 2024-206-2280 Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby urges the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate to co- designate NW 47th Avenue from NW 199th Street to NW 207th Drive as Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson Boulevard. The City Council further requests support from Miami- Dade County Board of County Commissioners through District 1 Office for this purpose. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
