A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST,
RESPECTIVELY, THAT CERTAIN LITTER CONTROL AND
PREVENTION GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF
FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR
FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000); AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO PROVIDE MATCHING FUNDS NOT TO
EXCEED FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000).;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature has appropriated the amount of Eight Hundred
Thousand Dollars ($800,000) in Fiscal Year 2024/2025 to the Florida Department of
Transportation in order to provide funding for litter prevention and control programs
through a certified Keep America Beautiful (“KAB”) Affiliate at the local level., and
WHEREAS, the Keep Miami Gardens Beautiful (KMGB) Division is such an affiliate
and has been awarded an amount of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000) under a
reimbursable grant agreement for grant-eligible activities, and
WHEREAS, the City, through the KMGB Program, will utilize the grant funds to
implement, administer and promote FDOT Litter campaigns in conjunction with the
National KAB Great American Cleanup, promote Litter Prevention & Recycling Education,
and promote the FDOT Adopt-A-Highway program, and
WHEREAS, this is a reimbursable grant for the eligible expenses with matching,
monetary and in-kind services required from the City up to the amount of Fifteen
Thousand Dollars ($15,000), and
WHEREAS, matching funds will be funded through Public Works Department
operational expenses (100-41-01-541-494-00, 100-41-01-541-520-00 and 100-41-01-
541-530-00), staff time and volunteer hours and there will be no additional fiscal impact
on the City as a result of this grant, and
WHEREAS, City Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City
Manager and City Clerk to execute and attest, respectively, that certain Litter Control and
Prevention Grant Agreement with the State of Florida, Department of Transportation in
an amount not to exceed Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000) and further authorize the
City Manager to provide matching funds not to exceed Fifteen Thousand Dollars
($15,000),
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager and City Clerk to execute and attest, respectively,
that certain Litter Control and Prevention Grant Agreement with the State of Florida,
Department of Transportation for Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000). Further, the
Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the City Manager to provide
matching funds not to exceed Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000).
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
