A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS IN THE
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($5,000.00) REALLOCATED FROM THE SCIENCE FAIR
ACCOUNT, PROVIDING THE BETTY T. FERGUSON
RECREATIONAL COMPLEX AS AN EVENT SPACE, AND
POLICE SERVICES FROM THE MIAMI GARDENS POLICE
DEPARTMENT IN SUPPORT OF THE MIAMI GARDENS YOUTH
MUSIC FESTIVAL, PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Young Musicians Unite (YMU) partners with Miami-Dade County
Schools to provide free specialized music education, which has been proven to inspire
personal development, foster a sense of community and prepare our future leaders, and
WHEREAS, YMU is the only in-school music education non-profit for grades 5-12
in Miami, YMU supports the lives and well-being of over 9,000 students in Miami-Dade
County’s inner cities every year, and
WHEREAS, live shows allow students to showcase their talents, connect with
fellow musicians, increase confidence, and gain performance experience This year,
Councilwoman Linda Julien is hosting the 4th Annual City of Miami Gardens Youth Music
Festival in collaboration with Young Musicians Unite, and
WHEREAS, The City of Miami Gardens Youth Music Festival is a celebration of
community and the arts that brings Miami Gardens together to enjoy stage performances
featuring over 600 youth musicians, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien is requesting an amount not to exceed five
thousand dollars ($5,000) from account (001-12-03-512-492-08), Betty. T. Ferguson be
provided as the event space, and police officers from the Miami Gardens Police
Department for the fourth Annual City of Miami Gardens Youth Music Festival,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby[LW1] support allocation of funds from the event account (001-12-03-512-492-08)
in the amount not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000), the use of The Betty T.
Ferguson Recreational Complex, and police services from The Miami Gardens Police

Department in the support of the fourth Annual City of Miami Gardens Youth Music
Festival taking place on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 22, 2025.
