A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA TO NAME THE FIELD AT WALT
FRAZIER PARK AFTER RODERICK "ROD" MACK; PROVIDING
FOR AN ADOPTION OF PRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Roderick “Rod” Mack is a Miami Gardens native deeply invested in
developing young athletes within his community. Born and raised in Miami Gardens, Mack
rose to prominence as an All-Dade County standout at Monsignor Edward Pace High
School, showcasing the toughness and dedication that would define his football career.
He carried that same drive to the University of Miami, where he played linebacker during
the program's challenging probation years from 1995 to 1999, consistently demonstrating
reliability and grit, and
WHEREAS, beyond his collegiate football career, Mack has achieved significant
success in the business world, earning degrees in business management and finance,
and ultimately establishing himself as an entrepreneur and local business owner.
However, his commitment to Miami Gardens remains paramount, particularly his passion
for nurturing the next generation of athletes, and
WHEREAS, Mack is a pillar of the community, dedicating his time and expertise
as one of South Florida's most respected youth football coaches for over 20 years. He
lead the Miami Gardens Ravens, a program that has garnered numerous championships
at the local, state, and national levels, providing invaluable mentorship and guidance to
young players, and
WHEREAS, recognizing the transformative power of organized sports in youth
development, Mack has made a steadfast, long-term commitment to his community. He
invests deeply in the lives of young athletes, offering them guidance, mentorship, and
opportunities to succeed, and
WHEREAS, through his unwavering dedication, Mack not only steers youth in
Miami Gardens away from negative influences, but also helps them realize that there is
always a path toward a brighter future,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby name the field at Walt Frazier Park after Mr. Roderick “Rod “ Mack.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MARCH 26, 2025.
