HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-086-2388_-_Supporting_Community_Based_Organizations_-_Adopted.docxRESOLUTION NO. 2025-086-2388 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE DONATION TOTALING NINE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS FROM MAYOR RODNEY HARRIS' PUBLIC AFFAIRS' SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT TO BE ALLOCATED TO SUPPORT FIVE COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS WITH 501C3 STATUS SERVING THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDEN'S LAW ENFORCEMENT, YOUTH AND FAMILIES. PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting authorization to donate to five community organizations that continues to positively impact the residents of the City of Miami Gardens, and WHEREAS, there are five (5) organizations that Mayor Rodney Harris would like to donate in support, all listed organizations are 501c3 status, moreover, each organization will receive a donation in the amount highlighted in bold, and WHEREAS, RJT Foundation Inc., provides grief counseling and support for families impacted by gun violence ($2,000.00), Sunshine Heart's Inc., a girls mentoring organization serves youth aged teens in the city of Miami Gardens ($2,000.00), Circle of Brotherhood Inc., a grassroots organization that provides diversity and sensitivity training for Miami Gardens Police Department and other Law enforcement agencies and assist communities through social programming that aims to address social and economic ills ($2,000.00), Miami Gardens Police Athletic League (PAL) overseen by Miami Gardens Police department, carry out various sports enrichment programs that enhances our youth's physical, mental and social development as well as provide a safe space for Miami Gardens youth participants to interact and grow ($2,000.00), The Links, Inc., celebrates over 75 years as a premier women’s volunteer service organization committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry, in addition, this organization support youth scholars with scholarships and mentorship. ($1,250.00), and WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris trust these community-based organizations and their services that support our city's law enforcement, enrich our youth and strengthen families. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
