A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING THREE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($3,000) FROM COUNCILWOMAN
MICHELLE POWELL’S PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT TO
SUPPORT GRANDPARENTS’ DAY CELEBRATION AND
SENIOR SHRED DAY EVENT; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Powell’s Grandparents Day Celebration event, has an
approved allocation of two thousand dollars during the June 11, 2025 Council meeting.
Councilwoman Powell wishes to request an additional three thousand dollars ($3,000) for
this initiative and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Michelle C. Powell, DO Grandparents’ Day
Celebration & Senior Shred Day,” a community focused event dedicated to Grandparents
and Seniors in Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, the Grandparents Day Celebration event is intended to celebrate the
contribution of Grandparents and provide information to keep the Miami Gardens senior
community safe by informing them on ways to secure their identities, and
WHEREAS, The additional resources will help maintain the integrity of the event
including providing promotional materials, breakfast, guest speakers, activities, renting
and purchasing items that will allow for an effective event.
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Powell is requesting an amount not to exceed three
thousand dollars ($3,000) her Public Affairs account (001-12-02-512-492-03).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the allocation of an amount not to exceed two thousand dollars from
Councilwoman Michelle Powell’s Public Affairs account (001-12-02-512-492-03).
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
