HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-129-2430_-_Parading_for_Pink_and_Purple_-_Adopted.docxRESOLUTION NO. 2025-129-2430 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS ($8,000) FOR THE PARADING FOR PINK AND PURPLE BREAST CANCER AND LUPUS EVENT FROM RESIDENTIAL SEAT 1 COMMUNITY BENEFITS ACCOUNT; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The Parading for Pink and Purple Event will be a meaningful event aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and lupus. The event will celebrate the strength of survivors and honor those who have lost their lives to the diseases. Additionally, it will recognize and honor the families, friends, and care givers who have supported those affected by both breast cancer and lupus, and WHEREAS, Councilwoman Katrina Baskin believes in the importance of breast cancer and lupus awareness because it promotes early detection, education, and support for those affected by the disease. Raising awareness helps dispel myths and encourages individuals to get regular screenings, and WHEREAS, Councilwoman Baskin is requesting an amount not to exceed eight thousand dollars ($8,000) from Residential Seat 1 Community Benefits account to support the Parading for Pink and Purple Event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby allocates funds from Seat 1 Community Benefits account for eight thousand dollars ($8,000), to support Councilwoman Katrina Baskin’s Parading for Pink and Purple Event. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
