A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST
RESPECTIVELY, THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI-
DADE COUNTY FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF A 2025 GREEN
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY MATCHING GRANT IN THE AMOUNT
OF SEVENTY FOUR THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED SIXTY
SEVEN DOLLARS ($74,767.00) TO SUPPORT THE CITY’S
“COMMUTE A TREE PROGRAM,” A COPY OF WHICH IS
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT “A”; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL AGREEMENTS AND
ATTENDANT DOCUMENTS AS A RESULT OF THIS GRANT
PROCESS; AUTHORIZING MATCHING FUNDS IN THE
AMOUNT OF SEVENTY FOUR THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED
SIXTY SEVEN DOLLARS ($74,767.00); PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens has proposed a tree installation project to
Miami-Dade County through the Street Tree Matching Grant Program to install native
canopy and Florida Friendly trees to mitigate the environmental impacts of existing
conditions, and
WHEREAS, the City applied and Miami- Dade County has awarded the City a
2025 Green Miami-Dade County matching grant in the amount of Seventy- Four
Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty- Seven Dollars ($74,767.00) for the tree planting project
in the City, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms hereto attached as Exhibit “A,” this is a grant to
match funds for trees and related materials whereby Miami-Dade County will reimburse
the City of Miami Gardens $74,767.00, and
WHEREAS, this grant will implement and provide funding for the tree planting
project to address the lack of canopy and street trees along a public right of way that
abuts residential homes, and
WHEREAS, matching amount to complete the project will come from the
Stormwater Utility Fund: Account # 401-41-03-538-635-00, and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager
and City Clerk to execute and attest respectively the 2025 Green Miami-Dade County
Grant Program Tree Planting Agreement in acceptance of the grant award,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager and the City Clerk to execute and attest respectively,
that certain Agreement with the with Miami-Dade County for the acceptance of a 2025
Green Miami-Dade County matching grant in the amount of Seventy- Four Thousand
Seven Hundred and Sixty- Seven Dollars ($74,767.00) to support the City’s “Commute a
Tree Program,” a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit “A”. The City Council further
authorizes the City Manager to execute any and all agreements and attendant documents
as a result of this grant process and authorizes matching funds in the amount of Seventy-
Four Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty- Seven Dollars ($74,767.00).
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
