A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION
OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) FROM MAYOR
RODNEY HARRIS' COMMUNITY BENEFIT ACCOUNT FOR
SPONSORSHIP OF THE TRAYVON MARTIN FOUNDATION’S
REMEMBRANCE GALA THAT WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY,
FEBRUARY 1, 2026, AT THE DOUBLE TREE HOTEL MIAMI
AIRPORT AND CONVENTION CENTER LOCATED (711 NW
72ND AVENUE, MIAMI, FL) AT 6:00 PM. PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting an allocation of Five Thousand
Dollars ($5,000.00) in support of the Trayvon Martin Foundation’s Remembrance Gala,
and
WHEREAS, Trayvon Martin was a youth who participated in the city's park
programs, as his family resides in Miami Gardens, FL, and
WHEREAS, the Remembrance Gala is an event in honor of the life of Trayvon
Martin, and supports the work the Foundation does in the community such as the Circle
of Mothers, Circle of Fathers, Youth empowerment and scholarship program, Back to
School Extravaganza and S.T.E.M Education, and
WHEREAS, all of these programs service Miami Gardens residents, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris supports the work of the Trayvon Martin
Foundation and all they do to uplift families affected by gun violence in our Miami Gardens
community, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize allocating Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) from Mayor Rodney
Harris’ Community Benefit account in sponsorship of the 2026 Trayvon Martin Foundation
Remembrance Gala.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
