A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AN AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS ($800) FOR THE
HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS EVENT FROM
RESIDENTIAL SEAT 1 PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT, NUNC
PRO TUNC; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The Human Trafficking Awareness Event was a meaningful event
aimed at raising awareness about Human Trafficking. The event was a family friendly
event and educated individuals of all ages about the dangers of human trafficking.
Additionally, it offered mental health resources, music therapy sessions, first hand
testimonials, and other resources that helped educate individuals on how to prevent
human trafficking both for themselves as well as for those in the community, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Katrina Baskin believes in the importance of raising
awareness about human trafficking because it promotes education, decreases the
number of trafficked individuals, and offers support for those affected by human
trafficking. Raising awareness helps dispel myths and encourages individuals to be
proactive in the prevention of human trafficking, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Baskin is requesting an amount not to exceed eight
hundred dollars ($800) from Residential Seat 1 Public Affairs account (001-12-02-512-
492-01), nunc pro tunc, to support her Human Trafficking Awareness Event on January
24, 2026.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from Seat 1 Public Affairs account (001-12-02-512-492-01) for
an amount not to exceed eight hundred dollars ($800), nunc pro tunc, to support
Councilwoman Katrina Baskin’s Human Trafficking Awareness Event on January 24,
2026.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 28, 2026.
