A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION
OF EIGHT HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SEVEN DOLLARS AND
SEVENTY-FIVE CENTS FROM MAYOR RODNEY HARRIS'
COMMUNITY BENEFIT ACCOUNT FOR THE SPONSORSHIP
OF FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS FOR THE DIASPORA ARTS
COALITION'S ANNUAL 2025 KWANZAA CELEBRATION EVENT
HELD ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2025, FROM 6:00 PM TO
9:30PM AT THE BETTY T. FERGUSON RECREATIONAL
COMPLEX, AUDITORIUM, NUN PRO TUNC. PROVIDING FOR
THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting authorization for an allocation of
Eight Hundred and Fifty-Seven dollars and Seventy-Five cents ($857.75) from his
community benefit account for sponsorship of food and refreshments for the Diaspora
Arts Coalition's annual 2025 Kwanzaa celebration event held on Friday, December 26,
2025, 6 pm to 9 pm at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex, Auditorium, nun
pro tunc, and
WHEREAS, this non-religious cultural experience gathered residents of the city
together to commemorate and celebrate the African Diaspora, honoring African heritage
through the Seven Principles, focusing on family, community and culture, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize allocating Eight Hundred and Fifty-Seven dollars and Seventy-Five
cents ($857.75) from Mayor Rodney Harris’ community benefit account in support of the
Diaspora Arts Coalition 2025 Kwanzaa celebration event, nun pro tunc.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 14, 2026.
