HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-029-2486_-_Evaluate_City_Operational_Hours_-_Adopted.docxRESOLUTION NO. 2026-029-2486 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EVALUATE THE CITY'S CURRENT OPERATIONAL SCHEDULE AND PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING A POTENTIAL FIVE-DAY OPERATIONAL WORKWEEK OR HYBRID SCHEDULE TO ENHANCE PUBLIC ACCESS AND SERVICE DELIVERY; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, currently, the City operates on a Monday through Thursday, ten-hour workday schedule, and WHEREAS, while this schedule has supported City operations and employee work-life balance, there is an increasing need to ensure that residents, business owners, and other stakeholders have access to public-facing departments throughout the standard business week, and WHEREAS, Councilman Leon recognizes the City’s ongoing economic growth, the completion of significant development projects, and the anticipated future development that will expand the community’s needs, and WHEREAS, Councilman Leon recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to evaluate the City’s current operational schedule and provide recommendations for a potential five-day workweek or hybrid model that balances employee preferences, public access, and service delivery, and WHEREAS, Councilman Leon’s intent is to explore opportunities to better serve the community while providing the City Manager with the flexibility to recommend a model that is practical, sustainable, and responsive, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
