The 2012 ‐2013 FRDAP application submission period begins September 14, 2012. Current Situation The City’s master plan for Norwood Park is to replace old deterioting playground equipment. The proposed improvements include the demolition of current playground structures, removal of sand and installation of concrete base and playground structures with poured ‐in ‐place safety surfacing . The submission of the FRDAP grant application will help support the City’s completion of the planned capital improvements at Norwood Park. Said improvements have been deferred for a number of years due to a lack of funding. Through the City’s newly created Grants Administration office, the City has prepared a grant application in the amount of two hundred thousands dollars ($200,000) to further developments outlined in the Parks Master Plan for Norwood Park Playground. The FRDAP grant requires a matching amount equal to the funding awarded. The City’s match will be provided by funds allocated by the Miami ‐Dade County General Obligation Bonds and Florida Department Of Transportation Enhancement Grant. An authorizing resolution is required to accompany FRDAP grant applications. Applications are due September 28, 2012. Proposed Action: That the City Council approve the attached resolution.
