Staff Summary: The Miami Gardens Police Department has appl ied for and been awarded grant funding from the United States Depart ment of Justice FY 2013 Byrne Grant in the amount of $200,959. The funding from this grant will be used exclusively for overtime utilized by the Department in ITEM K-6) CONSENT AGENDA RESOLUTION Byrne Grant
1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 furtherance of implementing a pr oject entitled Miami Gardens Police Department Focus on Public Safety FY 12/13. Funds are to be used in furtherance of enhanced initiatives throughout the Department. The funding will be utilized to supplement t he overtime budgets of the Investigations, Operations and Community Policing Units to carry out additional enforcement operations and the Departm ent’s “Grinch Buster” Holiday Enfo rcement Operation. The funds from this grant award will sign ificantly assist the Department in its endeavor to continually impact criminal activity and be progressive in the deployment of our officers. Proposed Action: That the City Council approve th e attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with the United States Department of Justice allo wing the Miami Gardens Police Department to utilize the $200,959 allocated by this grant.
