TO BE HELD IN BUNCHE PARK ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2012; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Staff Summary: Operation Stand Against Violenc e It’s Our Responsibility (“S.A .V.I.O.R.”) began in 2009 as an attempt by Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church to raise awareness of the need for citizens to assist local law enforcement in reducing the incidences of crime and violence in the community. ADD ON ITEM - 1 Resolution - Supporting S.A.V.I.O.R.
1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 Reverend Rogery Adams, has fostered a viable and sustaining relationship with Miami Gardens Police Department, Miami Gardens Parks and Recrea tion, an association of local churches and ministers, and the residents of Bunche Park and neighboring comm unities. The Miami Gardens-Bunche Park Neighborhood Watch Program was developed in 2011 as a result of the activities and awareness campai gn of the S.A.V.I.O.R. initiative . The 4th Annual S.A.V.I.O.R. march is scheduled for Sunday Dece mber 8, 2012, with a rally that commences at the corner of 152nd Street and NW 22nd Avenue and cu lminates at Bunche Park. Councilman Erhabor Ighodaro recomm ends that the City recogniz e and support the Operation S.A.V.I.O.R. as an amiable enterprise of civi c engagement and an important component of the city’s priority of Public Safety. There will be no fi scal impact to the City for supporting this event. Proposed Action: That the City Council approve the attached Resolution. Attachment:
