A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, CANCELING THE FIRST
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS FOR THE MONTHS OF
MAY, JUNE, AND JULY 2026; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION
OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the City's Charter the City Council shall hold at least 11
regular monthly meetings in each calendar year and Resolution No. 2022-038-3752
provide the City Council shall hold regular meetings on the second and fourth Wednesday
of each Month, and
WHEREAS, ongoing discussions at the State level regarding potential property tax
reform may have significant fiscal impacts on municipalities, including the City; and
WHEREAS, in consideration of these potential impacts, Mayor Harris has
recommended canceling the first regularly scheduled City Council meetings for the
months of May, June, and July to allow Administration time to focus on budget
preparation, strategic planning, and potential budget workshops; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4.1(a) of the City Charter, special meetings may
be called by the Mayor or by four (4) members of the City Council, with proper notice, to
address time-sensitive matters as needed during this period.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby cancels the May 13, 2026, June 10, 2026, and July 8, 2026, Regular City Council
Meetings. Section
3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final
passage.

AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON APRIL 22, 2026.
