A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
MAYOR RODNEY HARRIS' COMMUNITY BENEFIT ACCOUNT
AND SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF
FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000.00) TO SUPPORT
UPCOMING COMMUNITY INITITAIVES DURING FISCAL YEAR
2025 - 2026; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting an allocation of Fifteen Thousand
dollars to support various upcoming community initiatives that supports the city’s youth in
their academic pursuits, uplift our local educators, support senior citizen homeowners in
the city, and provide resources for grief counseling and support for mothers, and families
negatively impacted by gun violence, and
WHEREAS, the community initiatives that will be supported are the following, a
Teacher's appreciation - ($5,000.00), NAACP Youth Council Scholarship - ($2,000.00),
Trayvon Martin Foundation's Circle of Mothers grief support group - ($2,000.00), RJT
Foundation (grief counseling/ appreciation) - ($1,000.00), and the Arbor Day Home
Beautification initiative for senior citizen homeowners - ($5,000.00), and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the allocations of twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) from the Mayor’s
Special Event account and three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) from the Mayor’s
Community Benefit account for a total of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) to support
upcoming community initiatives during the 2025 to 2026 fiscal year for the Mayor’s Office.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON APRIL 22, 2026.
