HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-043-2500_-_Supporting_Seat_4_Initiatives_-_Adopted_(1).docxRESOLUTION NO. 2026-043-2500 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF SIXTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($16,000) FROM COUNCILMAN REGGIE LEON’S PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT AND FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000) FROM COUNCILMAN REGGIE LEON'S COMMUNITY BENEFIT ACCOUNT TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY AND EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, each year, Councilman Reggie Leon reaffirms his dedication to enhancing the quality of life for residents of the City of Miami Gardens through leadership in community-focused initiatives that promote educational opportunities, civic participation, and meaningful community development, and WHEREAS, Councilman Leon has consistently backed programs and fundraisers that create meaningful opportunities for residents while strengthening the social and cultural fabric of the community, and WHEREAS, Councilman Leon is requesting the Council to authorize the amount of sixteen thousand dollars ($16,000) from his Public Affairs Special Events account (001-12-02-512-492-02) to support, but not limited to, the following community and educational initiatives: 1. Bunche Park Youth Sports, Inc. - $1,000 2. Robert Sharp Towers - $2,000 3. 5000 Role Models of Excellence - $3,250 4. Norland Senior High School - $2,500 5. The Links, Incorporated - $1,000 6. B. Lee & Friends - $1,000 7. Mothers Fighting for Justice - $1,000 8. Trayvon Martin Foundation - $1,000 9. Nationwide Youth Outreach & Athletics - $1,000 10. Miami Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. - $1,250.00 WHEREAS, in addition, Councilman Leon is also requesting the Council to authorize the amount of five thousand dollars ($5,000) from his Community Benefit account (116-19-01-519-492-02) to assist with the implementation of ongoing community initiatives, activities, and associated materials, and WHEREAS, this allocation will support seasonal community outreach efforts such as community and school fundraisers, non-profit programs, and supporting local community events, along with additional programs designed to promote civic pride, volunteerism, and educational advancement throughout the city, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the allocations in an amount of sixteen thousand ($16,000) dollars from Seat 2 Public Affairs account (001-12-02-512-492-02) and five thousand dollars ($5,000) from the Seat 2 Community Benefit Account (116-19-01-519-492-02) in support of Councilman Leon’s community and educational initiatives. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
