Community Redevelopment Agency Board Minutes
January 8, 2025
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
The Community Redevelopment Agency Board for the City of Miami Gardens,
Florida, met in a special session, Jan 08 2025, beginning at 5:30 PM, in the
Council Chambers, 18605 NW 27th Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida.
The following members of the CRA Board were present: Chair Rodney Harris,
Vice Chair Robert Stephens, Board Member Katrina L. Baskin, Board Member
Reggie Leon, Board Member Michelle C. Powell, D.O., MPH, Board Member
Katrina Wilson, and Board Member Linda Julien.
Also in attendance were: City Manager Cameron Benson, City Attorney Sonja
Dickens, and City Clerk Mario Bataille.
2. INVOCATION
Vice Chair Stephens delivered the Invocation.
3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Recited in unison.

The agenda was accepted by consensus.

There were no public comments.
8. RESOLUTION(S)/AGENCY BUSINESS
8.1. A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
CHAIRPERSON OF THE CRA AND THE CLERK OF THE BOARD TO
EXECUTE AND ATTEST RESPECTIVELY, THAT CERTAIN
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MIAMI GARDENS COMMUNITY
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY; IN
SUBSTANTIAL FORM AS THAT AGREEMENT ATTACHED HERETO
AS EXHIBIT “A”; ACCEPTING FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVEN
MILLION, TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-EIGHT THOUSAND, NINE
HUNDRED EIGHTY-TWO DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-NINE CENTS
($7,238,982.79) FROM MIAMI-DADE COUNTY IN SUPPORT OF THE
MIAMI GARDENS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER; ALLOWING FOR
THE ACCEPTANCE OF FUTURE FUNDS FROM MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY IN SUPPORT OF THE MIAMI GARDENS PERFORMING

ARTS CENTER; PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
City Manager Benson provided an overview of the item and
recommended approval.
Answering a question posed by Board Member Leon, Mr. Benson
acknowledged that County Board Commissioner Oliver Gilbert sponsored
the funding to be provided by the County.
Board Member Julien spoke in support of the item and shared her
appreciation of the support from outside agencies for the Miami Gardens
Performing Arts Center.
A motion offered by Board Member Leon, seconded by Vice Chair
Stephens, to approve the Resolution passed and carried by a 7 to 0
roll call vote of the Board.

9. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss before this body, the meeting
