HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-066-2523_-_Walt_Frazier_Park_Musco_Field_Lights_-_Adopted_-_PdfRESOLUTION NO. 2026-066-2523 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PIGGYBACK SOURCEWELL CONTRACT NO. 041123-msl, SPORTS LIGHTING SOLUTIONS WITH RELATED TECHNOLOGY, EQUIPMENT, AND SERVICES WITH MUSCO SPORTS LIGHTING, LLC TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS TO MUSCO SPORTS LIGHTING, LLC IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FOUR HUNDRED AND FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($440,000.00) FOR THE PURCHASE OF A NEW FIELD AND COURT LIGHTING AT THE WALT FRAZIER PARK; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in April 2014, the City of Miami Gardens residents approved a General Obligation Bond (GOB) in the amount of Sixty Million Dollars ($60,000,000) for the construction of and improvements to the City’s parks and related facilities, and WHEREAS, City Council adopted a Bond Implementation Plan that listed improvements to be incorporated into each park project which included the renovation of Walt Frazier Park, and WHEREAS, the park will be completely renovated, which includes the addition of field and court lighting, and WHEREAS, on February 21, 2023, Sourcewell, a State of Minnesota local government unit solicited Request for Proposal (RFP) Number for the purchase of Sports Lighting Solutions with Related Technology, Equipment, and Services, and WHEREAS, on July 18, 2023, Sourcewell Board of Directors ratified Contract No. 041123 MSL awarded to Musco Sports Lighting, LLC, and WHEREAS, the initial contract period is for a term effective June 23, 2023 through June 16, 2027 and allows for three (3) additional one (1) year extensions, and WHEREAS, pursuant to City of Miami Gardens, Code of Ordinances Section 2- 757, the City may enter into competitively solicited contracts when doing so is in the best interest of the City, and WHEREAS, staff seeks to piggyback Sourcewell Contract No. 041123-MSL, Sports Lighting Solutions with Related Technology, Equipment, and Services with Musco Sports lighting, LLC to issue purchase orders to Musco Sports Lighting, LLC for the purchase of field and court lighting at the Walt Frazier Park, and Docusign Envelope ID: 73373484-E516-8509-809A-7FC36CC5DFE6 WHEREAS, the sum amount of the purchase order is Four Hundred and Forty Thousand Dollars ($440,000.00), and WHEREAS, staff recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to piggyback Sourcewell Contract No. 041123-MSL, Sports Lighting Solutions with Related Technology, Equipment, and Services to issue purchase orders to Musco Sports lighting, LLC in an amount not to exceed Four Hundred and Forty Thousand Dollars ($440,000.00) for the purchase of a new field and court lighting at the Walt Frazier Park, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the City Manager to piggyback Sourcewell Contract No. 041123- MSL, Sports Lighting Solutions with Related Technology, Equipment, and Services with Musco Sports Lighting, LLC to issue purchase orders to Musco Sports Lighting, LLC in an amount not to exceed Four Hundred and Forty Thousand Dollars ($440,000.00) for the purchase of field and court lighting at the Walt Frazier Park, Section 3. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
