HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-070-2527_-_Gateway_Signs_-_Gold_Glades_Interchange_Improvements_-_Adopted_-_PdfRESOLUTION NO. 2026-070-2527 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, AND INSTALLATION OF AN AESTHETIC GATEWAY GLADES GOLDENTHE AS PART SIGN OF INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, IDENTIFYING THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS AT A LOCATION MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED ON EXHIBIT “A” ATTACHED ADOPTION OF THE PROVIDING HERETO; FOR REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, as part of the Golden Glades Interchange Improvements Project, FDOT seeks to design and construct two City of Miami Gardens Identity Signs (aesthetic features) on S.R. 860/NW 183 Street/Miami Gardens Drive, east and west sides of Florida’s Turnpike bridge over S.R. 860/NW 183 Street/Miami Gardens Drive, to enhance community identity and gateway aesthetics, and WHEREAS, these identity signs fulfill the commitment to install aesthetic features next time this bridge is widened, as outlined on the executed Joint Participation Agreement between the Florida Department of Transportation (Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise) and the City of Miami Gardens, Florida, Article 9, Page 5 of 8, dated June 2, 2009, and WHEREAS, the proposed concept plan depicts the installation of two City of Miami Gardens Identity Signs on the grass median of S.R. 860/NW 183 Street/Miami Gardens Drive, east and west sides of Florida’s Turnpike bridge over S.R. 860/NW 183 Street/Miami Gardens Drive, that enhances community identity and gateway aesthetics, and WHEREAS, the signs will be protected by concrete barrier walls in both directions of traffic to prevent damage, and WHEREAS, the signs will incorporate the City’s latest reflective seal, as provided by the City, thus eliminating the need for additional lighting components, and WHEREAS, the signs will be located as close as practicable to the bridge structure without being physically affixed to the bridge, and WHEREAS, FDOT seeks the City’s approval to design and construct these City identity signs under the Golden Glades Interchange Project, and WHEREAS, Staff recommends the approval of the aesthetic City of Miami Gardens sign, Docusign Envelope ID: 73373484-E516-8509-809A-7FC36CC5DFE6 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby approves the design, construction, and installation of an aesthetic gateway sign as part of the Golden Glades Interchange Improvements Project, identifying the City of Miami Gardens at a location more particularly described on Exhibit “A” attached hereto. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
