A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR
THE PRINCIPLES AND OBJECTIVES OF MEDICARE FOR ALL,
INCLUDING THOSE ADVANCED BY H.R. 3069, THE
“MEDICARE FOR ALL ACT OF 2025,” AND OTHER FEDERAL
EFFORTS TO EXPAND ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE,
COMPREHENSIVE, AND QUALITY HEALTHCARE;
SUPPORTING THE INCLUSION OF ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE
AND COMPREHENSIVE HEALTHCARE AMONG THE CITY’S
FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, access to affordable, comprehensive, and quality healthcare is an
important issue affecting individuals, families, employers, and communities throughout
the United States, and
WHEREAS, rising healthcare costs, insurance premiums, prescription drug
expenses, and gaps in healthcare coverage may create financial burdens and barriers to
individuals and families seeking necessary medical care, and
WHEREAS, H.R. 3069, known as the “Medicare for All Act of 2025,” was
introduced in the United States House of Representatives to establish a national health
insurance program designed to provide comprehensive healthcare coverage to residents
of the United States, and
WHEREAS, H.R. 3069 proposes coverage for a broad range of healthcare
services, including hospital and physician services, prescription drugs, mental health and
substance use disorder services, dental care, vision care, and other medically necessary
services, while seeking to reduce financial barriers to accessing healthcare, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Katrina Baskin recognizes the importance of federal
policies and initiatives that seek to improve access to affordable, comprehensive, and
quality healthcare and supports the principles and policy objectives advanced by
Medicare for All and H.R. 3069, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Baskin recommends that the City Council express its
support for federal efforts to expand access to affordable, comprehensive, and quality
healthcare and include such efforts among the City of Miami Gardens’ federal legislative
priorities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: EXPRESSION OF SUPPORT: The City Council of the City of Miami
Gardens hereby expresses its support for federal efforts to expand access to affordable,
comprehensive, and quality healthcare, including the policy objectives advanced by H.R.
3069, the “Medicare for All Act of 2025,” and supports the inclusion of such efforts among
the City of Miami Gardens’ federal legislative priorities.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2026.
