Crew, City Manager Department: Fleet/Stormwater  Short  Title:  A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CO UNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO BARTOW FORD, INC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIFTY-THREE THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED TWELVE DOLLARS ($53,612.00) FOR THE PURCHASE OF VEHICLES, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FLORIDA SHERIFF’S ASSOCIATION BID NO. 12-20-0905; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.  Staff  Summary:  The  City  of  Miami  Gardens  has  used  the  Florida  Department  of  Corrections’ Work  Squads  since  2005, to  reduce  the  amount  of  litter  throughout  the  City, remove  graffiti  and  assist  the  Public  Works  crew  with  landscaping  tasks.   ITEM K-1) CONSENT AGENDA RESOLUTION P.O. to Bartow Ford Inc.   1515  NW  167  Street, Building  5  Suite  200    Miami  Gardens, Florida  33169   To  insure  proper  implementation  of  their  assignments, the  City  supplies  vehicles  (vans) to  transport  the  inmates  from  site  to  site. At  this  time, two  of  the  three  vehicles  (2006  Models) will  need  to  be  replaced  due  to  high  mileage, too  much  downtime  due  to  repairs, transmission  problems, and  air  conditioning  problems. The  purchase  of  two  (2) passenger  vans  is  being  presented  to  Council  for  approval  in  accord  with  the  Florida  Sheriffs  Association  bid.  The  Florida  Sheriffs  Association  competitively  awarded  a  contract  for  the  purchase  of  a  variety  of  fleet  vehicles, effective  November  1, 2012, to  Bartow  Ford  Inc.    Public  Works/Stormwater  Department  Two  (2) 2013  Ford  E ‐350  Passenger  Vans  $26,806.00  Each   City  staff  is  requesting  approval  to  replace  these  vehicles  with  newer  units  from  the  Stormwater  Budget  (#41 ‐41 ‐03 ‐538 ‐640 ‐00).  Proposed  Action: That  the  City  Council  approve  the  attached  Resolution. Attachment: Attachment  1: Florida  Sheriffs  Association  Bid
