Crew, City Manager Department:Fleet Division Short Title: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CO UNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AWARDING A BID TO SOUT HERN SEWER EQUIPMENT SALES AND SERVIC ES, INC., FOR ORIGINAL MANUFACTURERS VAC-CON EQUIPMENT AND REPAIRS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($70,000.00) FOR THIS PURPOSE; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDIN G FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Staff Summary: Background 1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 The Public Works Department has two heavy duty tr ucks specifically designed to perform Hydro Excavation. Vac-Con is the manufacturer of the Hydro Excavation equipment on these trucks. Southern Sewer Equipment Sales of Ft. Pierce, FL is the Vac-Con factory authorized sales and service center. The Fleet Department utilizes the repair services of Southern Sewer Equipment Sales to perform general and preventative maintenance repairs for the Vac-Con equipment. Southern Sewer performs the majority of repairs and preventative maintenance onsite at the City of Miami Gardens. Current Situation The City Staff prepared specifications and solicited for factory authorized sales and service centers on December 10, 2012. Thirteen (13) bids were received and publicly read. A copy of the solicitation document and proposals submitted are available at the assistant to the mayors office and councils office for review. Southern Sewer Equipment Sales of Fort Pierce Florida of Fort Pierce Florida was one of the thirteen (13) bids received. The value of anti cipated services to be performed by Southern Sewer Equipment Sales exceeds the authorization level of t he City Manager and therefore requires City Council approval. The attached resolution requests that the City Council authorize the City Manager to issue a Purchase Order to Souther Sewer Equipment Sales in the amount of $70,000, in accordacne with ITB#12-13-013 for OEM Parts and Repair Service. The Purchase Order will be for one (1) year. Proposed Action: That the City Council approve the proposed resolution.
