GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE

CERTAIN RENEWAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CHILDREN’S VILLAGE
INC., D/B/A THE RESOURCE ROOM FOR AFTERSCHOOL
PROGRAMMING AT BENNETT LIFTER RECREATION CENTER;
PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.

Background
On September 17, 2013 the parks and recreation department and the Children’s Village, Inc (Non‐Profit)
established a (1) year agreement to offer an afterschool program at the Bennett Lifter Recreation Center

for ages 5‐14 to enhance school academics through tutoring, homework assistance and recreational
play. To ensure that the City continues it’s partnership with the Children’s Village, Inc the parks and
recreation department is requesting that City Council extend the agreement for another year through
the end of school (June 23, 2015).
Fiscal Impact
The City will continue paying for utilities in the Bennett Lifter Recreation Center while providing general
maintenance, janitorial products, garbage bags and paper products. The Children’s Village, Inc will
provide staffing for the afterschool program and ensure that the facility is cleaned while in usage.
Proposed Action:
That the City Council approve the resolution to extend the agreement through the end of school (June
23, 2015) with the Children’s Village to offer an afterschool program at the Bennett Lifter Recreation
Center from the hours of 2:30pm‐6:30pm Monday thru Friday and during recess days from the hours of
8:30 am to 6:00pm Monday thru Friday.
