A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING JUNE AS MEN'S
HEALTH MONTH IN THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, June is Men's Health Month, and anchored by a Congressional
health education program, Men's Health Month is celebrated across the country with
screenings, health fairs, media appearances, and other health education and outreach
activities, and
WHEREAS, the purpose of Men's Health month is to heighten the awareness of
preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of diseases
among men and boys, and
WHEREAS, this month gives health care providers, public policy makers, the
media, and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular
medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury, and
WHEREAS, in placing special emphasis on men and cancer awareness, and
Father's day, Councilwoman Davis is further encouraging all men to wear blue and
black ties for the month of June in recognition of Men's Health Month,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby recognizes and celebrates men during the Month of June and recognizes the
Resolution No. 2017 - 108 -3213
month of June as Men's Health. The City Council further encourages men and boys to
seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 14, 2017.
