A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, NAMING THE CITY'S 2018
MEMORIAL DAY BREAKFAST IN HONOR OF SERGEANT LA
DAVID T. JOHNSON; PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE
CITY CLERK; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS on October 4, 2017, Sgt. La David T. Johnson, a U.S. army soldier
was killed in an ambush attack in Niger while the United States Military was on a joint
mission with the Niger military, and
WHEREAS, Sgt. Johnson was a resident of the City of Miami Gardens, and
attended high school at Carol City High School in the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, Sgt. Johnson leaves behind his wife Myeshia Johnson and two
children, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens would like to honor the service of Sgt.
Johnson by naming its 2018 Memorial Day Breakfast in honor of his service to our
Country and his bravery,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
authorizes that the City's 2018 Memorial Day Breakfast be named in honor of Sgt. La
David Johnson.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 11. 2017.
