Short Title:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST RESPECTIVELY, THAT CERTAIN
MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF MIRAMAR FOR FISCAL YEAR 2010 UASI
GRANT FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY‐EIGHT THOUSAND, SIX
HUNDRED AND EIGHTY‐SEVEN DOLLARS ($388,687.00), A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO
AS EXHIBIT “A”; PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Staff Summary:
The City of Miami Gardens has been identified by the Federal Department of Homeland Security as a city
that is eligible to receive funding from the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program as a
member of the Fort Lauderdale UASI. The City was awarded $388,687 under the 2010 UASI Grant for the
purchase of an Access Control System to be installed in the new City Hall complex. The system is needed
to protect and control access to this critical infrastructure location.

The City of Miramar serves as the lead agency for Fort Lauderdale UASI, and as such, the City of Miami
Gardens is a sub‐granting agency of the City of Miramar in the Fort Lauderdale UASI. As the sub‐granting
agency the City Council must also approve and execute the attached memorandum of agreement for
participating Fort Lauderdale UASI agencies in order to utilize the grant funding listed above.
Proposed Action:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to
execute the FY2010 UASI Grant Memorandum of Agreement and any other addendums as it relates to the
extension of this grant term for Participating Fort Lauderdale UASI Agencies.
