RESOLUTION NO. 2013-13-1809
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA ADOPTING THE 2013 STATE
LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK; PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Regular Session of the Florida Legislature will convene on
Tuesday, March 5, 2013, and
WHEREAS, in preparation for the upcoming session, it is necessary for the City
to establish a legislative program, and
WHERAS, the City Council has retained Yolanda Cash Jackson of the Becker
Poliakoff law firm as the City's lobbyist, and
WHEREAS, the proposed legislative program outlines the City's priorities and will
be used to assist our lobbyist in advocating on behalf of the City during the 2013
session,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby adopts the 2013 State Legislative Program for the City of Miami Gardens
attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 3: INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CLERK: The City Clerk is hereby directed
to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Governor Rick Scott, the President of the
Senate and the Chairperson of the Florida House and to the City's Lobbyist.

Section 4: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 9, 2013.

The Regular Session of the Florida Legislature will convene on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. In
preparation for the upcoming session. It Is necessary that City establish a legislative program.
Recently, the City retained Yolanda Cash Jackson of the Becker Pollakoff law firm as the City's
lobbyist. It Is Important that the City establish legislative priorities so that the City's Lobbyist will
focus specific energy Into encouraging legislation that promotes the City's 2013 agenda. The
Legislative Agenda attached as exhibit "A" outlines Initiatives that the City Council has
previously agreed to be Important Initiatives and Includes recommendations of the Mayor as well
as staff for additional Initiatives.
