A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
DESIGNATION OF VETERAN'S PARKING SPACES AT
ALL CITY FACILITIES; ENCOURAGING PRIVATE AND
COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES TO DESIGNATE
COMPLIMENTARY PARKING SPACES FOR VETERANS;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, Military Veterans sustain physical and emotional injuries in defense
of the United States and its freedoms, and
WHEREAS, in recognition of their sacrifices, Councilwoman Lillie Q. Odom
proposes that the City of Miami Gardens ("City") designate complimentary Veteran's
Parking Spaces at all City facilities; and
WHEREAS, local businesses should also be encouraged to designate
complimentary Veteran's Parking Spaces at their facilities, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Lillie Q. Odom will sponsor/pay for the initial signage
and its installation at complimentary parking spaces at the following locations:
1. City Hall, 18605 NW 27th Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida, 33056
2. Police Department, 18611 NW 27th Ave, Miami Gardens, Florida, 33056
3. Buccaneer Park, 3001 NW 2071h Street, Miami Gardens, Florida, 33056
4. Betty T. Ferguson Municipal Complex, 3000 NW 19911 Street, Miami
Gardens, Florida, 33056
5. Bunche Park, 15600 Bunche Park Drive, Miami Gardens, Florida, 33054,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2. AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the designation of veteran's parking spaces at all City facilities and
encourages private and commercial businesses to designate complimentary parking
spaces for veterans.
Section 3. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
