A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING THE SUM OF TWO
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,500.00) FROM
COUNCILMAN WILLIAMS' PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT TO
SUPPORT THE THIRD ANNUAL HONORING WOMEN IN LAW
ENFORCEMENT EVENT; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement agencies within the tri-county area provide
services to over 6 million people that reside in South Florida, and
WHEREAS, the services provided by these Law Enforcement Agencies are
invaluable to the community and residents alike, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens has partnered with Mount Hermon African
Methodist Episcopal Church to bring honor and recognition to the women of South
Florida who serve their communities as Law Enforcement Officers, by hosting the Third
Annual Women in Law Enforcement Event, and
WHEREAS, each of the Law Enforcement Agencies within the respective
counties will be invited to take part in the Third Annual Honoring Women in Law
Enforcement Event, and
WHEREAS, each Law Enforcement agency is encouraged to nominate one
woman to receive a special award for her dedication to the profession and community,
and
WHEREAS, funding for the Third Annual Honoring Women in Law Enforcement
Event will be partially supported by the Public Affairs Account for Seat 5 in addition to
sponsorships and donations, and
WHEREAS, Councilman David Williams Jr is requesting Two Thousand Five
Hundred Dollars ($2,500) from the Public Affairs Account for Seat 5, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Williams recommends that the City Council approves
this resolution,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00)
from Councilman Williams' Public Affairs Account, to support the Third Annual Honoring
Women in Law Enforcement event.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 12, 2019.
