A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE "DECLARATION
OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY" IMPOSED BY THE MAYOR ON
AUGUST 29, 2017, DUE TO HURRICANE DORIAN; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS, PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens faced dangerous conditions of sufficient
severity and magnitude to warrant coordinated local government action to prevent or
alleviate the damage, loss, hardship or suffering threatened or caused thereby, and
WHEREAS, Governor Rick Scott declared a State of Emergency for all of Florida
due to the threat of impending Hurricane Dorian, and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez declared a State of
Emergency for South Florida due to the threat of impending Hurricane Dorian, and
WHEREAS, on August 29, 2019, Mayor Oliver G. Gilbert, III, declared a Local
Emergency for the City of Miami Gardens due to the threat of Hurricane Dorian, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: CONFDORIANTION OF THE DECLARATION OF A LOCAL
EMERGENCY: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby ratifies the
"Declaration of a Local Emergency" imposed by Mayor Oliver Gilbert, III, on
August 29, 2019, attached hereto as Exhibit "A".

Section 4: AUTHORIZATION OF CITY MANAGER: The City Manager is
hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
Section 5: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2019.
