A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, APPROVING A THREE PERCENT
(3%) MERIT PAY INCREASE, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, FOR
THE CITY MANAGER, CITY ATTORNEY, AND CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS,-
PROVIDING
EPRESENTATIONS;PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Sonja K. Dickens, has served as the City Attorney for the City of
Miami Gardens since 2004 and the inhouse City Attorney since 2009, Cameron D.
Benson has served as City Manager since 2013 and Mario Bataille has served as City
Clerk since 2018, and
WHEREAS, the Employment Agreements for the Charter Officers provides that
"the City Council agrees to determine any adjustment in annual salary and/or benefits,
based upon performance, at least once annually, during the City's Annual Budget
process," and
WHEREAS, Sonja K. Dickens and Cameron D. Benson have only received one
merit increase since their tenure with the City, which was last year, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Oliver Gilbert, III, proposes that the City Manager, the City
Attorney, and the City Clerk receive a three percent (3%) merit increase, effective
immediately,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS.-

OLLOWS:Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby approves a Three Percent (3%) merit pay increase, effective immediately, for
the City Manager, the City Attorney, and the City Clerk.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2019.
