A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING A SPONSORSHIP
FOR THE NAACP'S MIAMI-DADE BRANCH ANNUAL
FUNDRAISING GALA IN THE AMOUNT OF TWO THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($2,000.00) FROM COUNCILMAN LEON'S PUBLIC
AFFAIRS ACCOUNT; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Branch of the NAACP is the local presence of the
nation's oldest (founded 1909) and largest civil rights organization functioning as a
member of the Florida State Conference of Branches carrying out the policies of the
National Association, and
WHEREAS, the organization continues its work to achieve equality of rights and
eliminate race prejudice among the citizens of the United States, and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Charles F. Dodge City
Center of Pembroke Pines, the organization will celebrate 31 years of service to the
Miami-Dade community at their Freedom Fund Soiree, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Reggie Leon is requesting a sponsorship not to exceed
the amount of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) from his Public Affairs Account in
support of the NAACP's Miami-Dade Branch Annual Fundraising Gala,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes a sponsorship for the NAACP's Miami-Dade Branch Annual
Resolution No. 2019-183-3312
Fundraising Gala for Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) from Councilman Leon's Public
Affairs Account.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 11 , 2019.
